VFW Post 4174, located at 25 S. Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres, may be a small building, but the activities of its membership , Auxiliary and Riders Organizations are not! Already this month, the Post had an appreciation dinner for its Auxiliary, is planning on a Valentine special event, will have the Hillbilly Bingo twice during the month, regular Bingo every Thursday evening, entertainment every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights along with homemade, reasonably priced dinners. There are lunches 5 days a week with each day having its specials and of course, the Public is welcome to join us.
We also have the Auxiliary meeting at 7:00 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month, a Post meeting at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month, on the third Tuesday is the DAV meeting at 6:00 p.m. and the fourth Tuesday is for the Riders at 7:00 p.m. The CTS meeting starts at seven the first Wednesday of the month and the DTS Family meeting is the second Wednesday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
If you haven’t been to our little post on a Sunday morning between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., you are missing one of the best breakfasts in town and the prices can’t be beat. We have a good menu and what is so neat about all the meals in our post is that the cooks, servers, and dish washers are all volunteers. Because they are willing to donate their time, it makes the meals even more special and appreciated.
We’re not all about fun and food though. We have a mission to aid our Veterans in any way we can and also to assist our community and its families. We open at 9:00 a.m. every day, and mornings are usually the best time to get hold of an officer who would be able to answer any questions about our post and its function. There are 14 different committees which the post involves itself in performing, and Youth Activity is a very important part of this. We also pride ourselves on the Community Out Reach because our veterans believe in continuing to serve the country they willingly fought for during their military careers.
